What is a Stock Certificate

A stock certificate is the physical piece of paper representing ownership in a company. Stock certificates will include information such as the number of shares owned, the date, an identification number, usually a corporate seal and signatures. They are a bit bigger than a normal piece of paper, and most of them have intricate designs to discourage fraudulent replication.

Breaking Down Stock Certificate

Stocks are the foundation of nearly every portfolio, and they represent partial ownership in a company. Usually, the records of ownership are kept in electronic form, but you can request a paper version. Each certificate starts as a standard design which might change throughout the years, then the date, identification number, and other information are added. Most signatures of executives are printed on the certificate, but some will be signed with a pen.

Options vs. Futures: An Overview

Options and futures are both financial products that investors use to make money or to hedge current investments. Both are agreements to buy an investment at a specific price by a specific date.

  • An option gives an investor the right, but not the obligation, to buy (or sell) shares at a specific price at any time, as long as the contract is in effect.

  • A futures contract requires a buyer to purchase shares, and a seller to sell them, on a specific future date unless the holder's position is closed before the expiration date.

The options and futures markets are very different, however, in how they work and how risky they are to the investor.

Oil Basket

Nimda gathers information through the formal practices of harvesting, consignation, and donation, but also through the informal practice of what we have defined as Online Huachicol. In the Mexican oil market, the huachicol is the term used to name the clandestine practice a pipeline’s milking. Just as through them flows the federal oil, Digital Maoist sites are data banks that flow through our monitors and that are already being milked through different methods. Every time an account on a digital maoist site like facebook, tumblr, or market sites like amazon deletes a user’s account, a milking was discovered.

In the 21st century, the best worker is the one that doesn’t realizes he is working. As digital economy has managed to disguise labour as entertainment, this is the reality of most internet users. Because of this, Nimda believes the practice of online huachicol is needed to revalue human labor, as it holds the possibility of pushing Digital Maoism to cease the exploitation it makes through social networks and search engines. For us making money through the internet is truly amazing, but it is an activity that needs to be regulated and in which royalties should be given fairly.
